My husband and I came here for dinner a few months ago after I'd been chomping at the bit to visit. Made a reservation for a weekend evening (recommend making a reservation for sure). Everything was excellent and we loved our experience. Started with an order of the fondue to split, of course. It was served with chunks of bread, apple, and potatoes and made from a mix of gruyer and rahmtaler cheeses. I would honestly just come here for this. It was so so good. For entrees we went a bit overboard and each ordered the wienerschnitzel, pounded thin and served with a mushroom sauce and chives. We also each got a side of the spaetzle. Y'all, this was a lot of food. Like, ALOT. At a lot of newer restaurants you may find smaller portions for the entrees but not here! We could have easily split both. But I was more than happy to not have to share mine, it was that good. Oh, and we also added a side of the cucumbers which were also quite good (we only got one order of that and it was perfect to split). We were stuffed but of course had to do dessert and went with an apple tarte a la mode (maybe it's a strudel? I can't remember what they call it, it's not currently on their seasonal menu). Also very, very good. One thing of note-- is it can be a little lively on a weekend evening. My husband has some hearing loss which normally isn't a big deal since I am a loudmouth (heehee) but when we visited I had laryngitis so I couldn't quite speak above a whisper and we had some issues communicating so we mostly just spent the evening relaxing quietly and taking in everything around us. This isn't a ding at Alpino at all, but worth noting to set some expectations. Overall, an amazing evening. They also have live music every Tuesday in a space downstairs and you can enjoy dinner and drinks at your seat during the show. You can find the line up on their website and entry is only $10. We have a friend performing there in October and I hope to check that out!

Overall, a very nice meal and great service. Don't skip the cheese! They have a very nice wine list, and the cocktail list is full of tequila drinks, which I found to be surprising in an Alpine inspired restaurant, but the drink I ordered was lovely - something tropical looking and magenta colored with hibiscus. A bit sweet. For food, we started with the Raclette and the chicory salad, and I highly recommend both. The Raclette comes to the table all melty and gooey, and is scooped over a large slice of brioche with a salty cured ham. Really delicious. The salads are top notch here - they were actually the highlights of the meal. The chicory salad is smoky and just absolutely delicious with a honey dressing - perfectly balanced with the bitter endive. And the salads that were served with both the steak and the fish were very memorable. Flavorful and fresh and the perfect accompaniment. The trout was outstanding. The most perfect crispy skin, seasoned very well, juicy and perfectly cooked. Just delicious. The steak is a skirt steak, so a bit chewy, which I actually like, and it had a smoky, crispy seasoned crust on the outside. Good, maybe not great, but the price point is good for steak in a restaurant, and it was a nice portion. We also had the spaetzle and the braised cabbage. The spaetzle was buttery and very soft - comfort food for sure. It reminded me of butter noodles - simple, tasty, not something to rave about. As for the braised cabbage, I just think I didn't expect it to be sweet, being ignorant of the way they do it - it tasted of apple and was good, but again, nothing I'd get excited about. All in all, I think the menu is a bit limited, but go for the cheese and that amazing rainbow trout.

I grew up eating this food, so I was eager to try Alpino. It has some imperfections, but is overall pretty tasty. Ambiance: Although it makes an effort to give is an Alpine flair, other than some wood tables, it has almost zero Alpine flair. Just a casual place. The worst part is the music they play. Thay call it Americana - imagine surfer songs played in the style of elevator music. What a terrible terrible play list. And how is it Alpine? It's not. I would rather listen to yodeling! Some of the songs are so bad we found it disruptive to our dining experience. Food: Pretty good. Raclette is a melted cheese traditionally served with a small pickled onion, a gherkin and a few boiled potatoes. They serve is on bread with honey and prosciutto. Extremely tasty, but I was hoping for a more traditional dish. They also serve a fantastic potato pancake toped with smoked fish. I will come back just for this. Never had such a unique potato pancake - very crispy and tender. Weiner schnitzel - Better that Oak Parker. Delicious. Served with a mushroom sauce. Steak Tagliata - big swing and a miss. Was told it comes medium rare to medium. Mine came out pretty rare. Plus it's a balsamic vinegar bomb. I like a balsamic reduction, but this was too much. Spatzle - A must order with the mushroom sauce. Yummy. Braised red cabbage - I was so looking forward to this, but it came over-sweetened. Basically a sugar bomb. Good texture, but just too sweet. Rosettte - a must try dessert. Its not a fritter, so don't expect that. Don't know how to describe it, but it's delicious. Wine list - huge and very confusing. Wait staff were knowledgeable and steered me in the right direction. Overall, but for the music and undercooked meat, this place is a must try.

I love to rave about restraunts and most of my reviews are highly rated (unless it was really just bad), but I wish I could give this one 10 stars. One if the best meals ever. We sat at the bar and had a fabulous bar tender who was fun, helpful, and made the night spectacular. We literally went on vacation in Detroit just to go to this restaurant after seeing it in the New York Times. It did not disappoint. The cucumber salad was simply inspiring and i dont even like cucumbers. I've tried recreating it several times. I'd eat that salad every day. Alas, another trip to Detroit must be in order. Everything was epic. The sliding cheese on top of salty prosciutto is as good as it looks. The spatzel with the morel sauce--like how can something so uncomplicated be so damn good! It was a slow night, maybe a Tuesday, so we talked to severel different staff, got their opinions on other places to try, and they were all just so much fun and they know what hospitality means.

We were at Alpino to hear Olivia Dear, a local music group. They have an upstairs and a lower level. We were in the lower level for the show. It is romantic and lovely. We had drinks and appetizers. The speck and raclette and the pancake and salmon dishes. Both were amazing. Excited to come back for a full meal And the music was amazing! If you haven't heard them, you need to check them out!

Lovely indoor and outdoor seating, would be a great place for a date. Our server was great, and the food was good. The fondue and steak were my favorite! I was a little disappointed in the ragu and spatzle- was highly recommended and I was very excited to try them after looking through all the reviews but the ragu was too aldente and the spatzle was a bit plain for my taste

We were able to make a last minute reservation here after our dinner plans changed, and we really enjoyed it! Alpino made us very nostalgic for our most recent trip to Lake Como, where we climbed Monte Grona and were able to see Lugano, Switzerland, and some of the similar scenes captured in the photos and décor throughout the restaurant. All of the staff we encountered were professional, attentive, and accommodating. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and made some great recommendations for us to try throughout our meal, highlighting the gluten free options for me. My boyfriend got the La Vie en Rose for his drink, which he really enjoyed, while I tried the N/A Easy Breezy, which was one of the best mocktails I've had! It wasn't overly sweet juice/syrup and had so much complexity to it. To start, we had the Gurkensalat, which was very fresh and well balanced in flavor. Get the char roe on top; it's so good! The Focaccia Laciada had so many ingredients my boyfriend and I loved from our trip to Italy, so I begged him to try it for me, and he really enjoyed it! We were so surprised to see Taleggio (a semisoft Italian cheese) on any menu here, so it was very exciting! I had the Pesto Risotto, which was prepared perfectly and had amazing flavors. We'd like to try the fondue and steak tagliata next time. For dessert, we shared the Bonet, which I was assured is gluten free because the sbrisolona is made from hazelnuts and almond flour. It was very good, and I was happy to have more gluten free dessert options than sorbet. We look forward to bringing our friends back here to try the fondue and other items on the menu!

Came here on a Sunday for lunch which to our pleasant surprise their separate brunch menu (which seems to be the only time they do their brunch menu). Although we had already planned out what we wanted on the other menu, there were still some interesting items we got to see on this menu that we wanted to try. The waiter was very friendly and walked through the menu with us along with what we could expect in the variety of items. In particular, we were recommended the Rosti Benedict as one of the star items that was considered to be better than the dinner menu. I also ordered the Alpino burger with a side of potatoes as well as a Panna Cotta for dessert. My personal favorite for this meal definitely had to be the burger (9/10). Although definitely on the pricey side, the burger was everything I could ever want. The meat was perfectly cooked and tender, and the pickled red cabbage was a nice refreshing compliment. Although it looked like it would overpower the burger, the cabbage really helped add a subtle sweetness and acidity that helped cut through the fat that made the burger just that much more enjoyable. The potatoes it came with as well were just amazing as well, with a nice, super crunchy outside but fluffy inside. Honestly worth the 6$ extra to try the potatoes at least once. For the Benedict, although I can definitely see how others may love it, it had a bit too much acidity in what I believe was the dill in the sauce which took away from the flavor. However, the salmon was very pleasant and the egg was perfect. A 7/10 for me. Overall, definitely loved the atmosphere and vibe of this place, and with the quality of food we got here, would definitely want to come back and try some of their normal menu foods again!

The former Lady of the House location, but Alpino has completely transformed it, made it its own and I am absolutely here for it. Do I miss the Ryan Gosling Face bench in the all-pink bathroom? Maybe a little BUT in all seriousness, Alpino is one to try! We came for Sunday brunch because who doesn't love a cozy brunch?! There was no wait, but we made a rezzie on their website anyways. We had the: * RÖSTI BENEDICT (SWISS POTATO PANCAKE + SMOKED SALMON + POACHED EGG + HORSERADISH BÉARNAISE) - a MUST get. This thing was wildly delicious and recommended by our server. My only gripe is that there was only 1 egg! Given the size of the potato pancake, I wanted two but maybe I'm just being greedy, ha. But the potato pancake was perfectly crispy and just a glorious vessel - move over English Muffins!! * LA HAMRICK (SALUMI COTTO + TRUFFLE HAM + ARUGULA + PICKLED SHALLOT + DIJONNAISE + FOCACCIA) - tasty AF focaccia sandwich - pretty classic Italian to me but just really nicely made & seasoned! *CHICORY SALAD (BITTER GREEN + GOLDEN APPLE + COMTÉ, PECAN, JUNIPER MAPLE VINAIGRETTE) - So so lovey. Love me a good salad and this one was fantastic! *VOL AU VENT (PASTRY DOUGH + SCALLOPED POTATOES + CARAMELIZED ONION +SPECK + EMMENTALER & GRUYÈRE + DIJONNAISE + ARUGULA SALAD) - I took this one home to try because I was pretty full It was AMAZING and so buttery and flaky. I mean who doesn't love carb wrapped in carb! *COLAZIONE PLATE (FRESHLY BAKED SEASONAL COOKIES + BISCUITS) - we had some biscotti, a beautiful apple coffee cake and these three almond/pecan cookies that I could NOT get enough of. *STONE PINE LATTE (COFFEE HAUS ESPRESSO BLEND + HOUSE PINE SYRUP + MILK) - really subtle & delicious! I loved the meal above so, so much that I've already made reservations to try their dinner offerings and bringing some friends with me! FYIs: *I don't have any food allergies or restrictions but I appreciate when a restaurant has clear food indicators so as the planner/a host, I know what places can easily accommodate: V | VEGETARIAN VA | VEGETARIAN AVAILABLE VE | VEGAN VEA | VEGAN AVAILABLE GF | GLUTEN FREE GFA | GLUTEN FREE AVAILABLE *Parking is a dedicated free lot right outside the restaurant - which makes it easy! *They have an awesome Stein program - buy a stein and get a free pour & get a discount when you bring your Stein back! *If you're a Corktown resident, they have a resident discount!
